Maria da Natividade Lopes
October 15, 1951 - May 4, 2009
Maria passed away at the age of 57 on May 4, 2009 at Kitimat General Hospital after battling breast cancer for the second time.
She is survived by her husband Jose, daughter Cristina and son Danny. She is also survived by her brothers Manuel (Leta) and Antonio (Alice) and sisters Maria (Jose) and Conceicao. She was predeceased by her parents Laurinda and Joaquim.
Maria was born in Arcos de Valdevez, Portugal, on October 15, 1951, she was the youngest of five children. In 1980 at the age of 28 she was married to Jose Lopes and immigrated to to Kitimat, BC to start a new life with him. They would go on to have two children who became Maria’s purpose in life and her pride and joy.
Maria was a courageous, kind, friendly and modest woman with a playful spirit, a wise soul, a passion for dancing and a smile that radiated love.
Maria’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all family and friends, as well as all KGH staff who helped Maria on her journey from this life to the next.
