It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of
Gustav (Gus) Maurer on May 8, 2009 at the age of 65.
He is survived by his best friend and wife of 30 years, Doreen, daughter Irene (Bob), son Jason, grandson Carter, step-grandson Evan, brother Johann (Berta), sister Magdi (Hansi), many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents (Elizabeth and Johann), his brother (Eduard) and sister (Irene).
Gustav (Gus) Maurer was born April 30, 1944 in Oberpullendorf, Austria, and was the youngest of five children. Gus was a free spirit and sought new adventure at the age of 24 when he immigrated to Canada. He eventually found his home in Kitimat, BC and settled down to raise a family with the love of his life, Doreen. Together Gus and Doreen raised two wonderful children, Irene and Jason. Gus was an extremely proud father, and an even prouder grandfather.
A generous, kind and loving man, Gus lived his life for his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and enjoying the outdoors. He was especially fond of times spent with his family and friends while engaged in these activities.
