Grace Lauren Hall
October 24, 1989 - January 31, 2012
Grace was born in Black River Matheson, Ontario on October 24, 1989, the third of four children, Etta, Annie, and Dylan River. Her Dad, Trafford, grew up in Iroquois Falls Ontario and her Mum in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.
Grace is a Kitimat girl, raised here since kindergarten. She was a French Immersion student of Cormorant and Mount Elizabeth Schools, and a student of North West Community College where she studied graphic design. Subsequently and proudly she was a Fine Arts student of Thompson River University in Kamloops.
Grace was an accomplished artist and cartoonist with great joy and insight. She taught cartooning at Riverlodge and designed and illustrated her own cards and comics.
Grace travelled the world: Africa, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. She loved the family cottage at Nellie Lake, but mostly she was a West Coaster. She loved the support of her family and friends in Kitimat, the independence and warmth of Kamloops and the vibrancy and culture of Vancouver.
Grace was loving and very loved. Her presence lit up a room and touched everyone she met. We will miss her gentle, creative and courageous free spirit. We are heartbroken she has left us.
