Bruce Ian Charneski

October 12, 1968 – August 13, 2017

The family mourns the loss of Bruce, beloved youngest son of Sheila and Adam Charneski, sisters Carol Ormiston (Bill) of Nanoose Bay, Dawn Becker (Gerry) of Port Coquitlam, and brothers Gary (Ada) of Terrace and Robert (Janet Johnson) of Kitimat.

Bruce is survived by his extended family of aunts and uncles, cousins, nephews, niece, great-niece and his cat Winston.

He was born in Kitimat, graduated from Mount Elizabeth High School, and as a mature student earned a BSW at UNBC. Since 2007, Bruce has had businesses in Summerland and Kelowna, where he recently opened Bruce’s Variety Shoppe. Since his childhood Bruce has had many health challenges, which he met with resolve and determination to recover and return to a productive and independent life. He was optimistic and upbeat, possessed a curious and inquiring mind, a quick sense of humour and enjoyed lively family gatherings and a good political discussion.

In honour of Bruce, please consider making a donation to Northern Lights Wildlife Society, Smithers, BC. Bruce greatly admired the work of this organization, which rescues and rehabilitates bears and other wildlife, ultimately returning them to the wilderness.

A private family memorial will be held.
