Someone has done extensive damage to the bracket on the decorative peace dove used to light up an area of Centennial Park, Kitimat RCMP report.

Installed just last year, the estimated replacement cost of $3,500 will be borne by the Kitimat Rotary club and come from monies it would have otherwise been able to use on local projects.

The damage took place sometime between July 29 and Aug. 2.

“The peace dove was part of a decoration added by the Rotary Club in 2021 as a representation of Kitimat’s commitment to being a rotary peace community and will take time to replace,” indicated a RCMP press release.

Kitimat RCMP are now looking for information and are seeking the help of the community.
