If the Olympic torch relay is all about the kids, as they say, then Kitimat did very well in that respect.

Many local youngsters received awards at the torch relay celebrations, held at Riverlodge Feb. 1.

Winning mini-Olympic medals from St. Anthony’s Catholic School were primary students: Kaitlin Ferreira (gold), Bradley Lojstrup (silver), and Brendan Gaspar (bronze).

Intermediate medals went to: Kyle Harnadek (gold), Adrian Villanueva (silver) and Maddison Dos Santos (bronze).

Receiving awards from Nechako Elementary School were students: Chelsea Wright, Paige Collier, Sydney Bovingdon, Jacob Webber, Carter Danis and Taylor Ashcroft.

Local resident Natalie Rollin won a free trip via Hawkair for participating in a Riverlodge boot camp.
