THE District of Kitimat has lifted its boil water notice.

Effective November 2, 2017, the District of Kitimat in consultation with Northern Health jointly lifted the Boil Water Notice for all users of the District of Kitimat Community Water System issued October 25, 2017

The District issued the notice on a proactive precautionary basis.

Further sampling of the District water system shows there is no contamination. Therefore the District in consultation with Northern Health lifts the Boil Water Advisory.

Residents have been under an on again and off again notice to boil water or an advisory to that effect since early September in response to heavy rains.

The rains raise the turbidity level in the community’s water system which uses the Kitimat River as its source.

During the boil water periods, residents were advised to boil water for one minute.
