Martha Flores is the Kitimat General Hospital Foundation’s (KGHF) first employee.

Flores, who will work as the Foundation’s co-ordinator at the KGHF office located on the second floor of the Kitimat General Hospital, invited Kitimat residents to drop in and say hello to her.

Over the past twelve years, Flores has worked for companies such as FedEx, LG Electronics and Bechtel. She brings knowledge and experience in administration, customer service, planning and logistics, and holds a university degree in marketing.

Flores is originally from Mexico, but has lived in Canada for the last nine years and is now a Canadian citizen. She ventured to Kitimat with her husband, Ben, to work for Bechtel on the KMP project and fell in love with the community and the pace of life in small town northern B.C.

Passionate about helping and working with people, Flores devotes much of her spare time as a volunteer with the elderly at Mountainview Lodge, the Multi-Level Care facility in Kitimat.

“Helping to enhance the quality of our seniors’ day-to-day lives and engaging with the community is important to me,” said Flores.

Kitimat General Hospital foundation chair Corinne Scott said the foundation was pleased to have Flores’ expertise to look after administrative details and co-ordinate fund raising events.

“We are convinced that she will help us to move to another level of success in serving the health care needs of Kitimat residents,” said Scott.

Martha will maintain regular office hours, weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
