The District of Kitimat recently awarded prizes to the four winners of a video contest aimed at celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday.

Nina Gibaldi, Taylah Kaberry, Andrea Watt and Gemma Rigoni, and Taylor Finn attended a council meeting to receive their prizes from District of Kitimat mayor Phil Germuth for their entries to the competition, which was organised by the District’s Leisure Services Department.

Councillors and guests were also treated to screenings of the videos, which were streamed off YouTube.

The contest ran through April and May with the deadline for entries on May 31. The criteria for the videos were to incorporate the theme “What Canada means to me” in a video no longer than 30 seconds.

“The video selection committee selected four winners that displayed great efforts to produce unique, extraordinary videos that captured ‘their Canada’,” said Leisure Services’ Theressa Rachao. The videos can be seen at www.youtube.com/user/DistrictofKitimat.
