The Kitimat Museum and Archives is set to host an innovative and immersive art experience with the opening of “Come Play With Me – An Interactive Conceptual Art Exhibit,” featuring local artist and educator Andrea Guldin.

Known in Kitimat for her dual roles as an art teacher and creative writing coach, as well as her advocacy for accessibility, Guldin is presenting an exhibit that merges interactive conceptual art with a traditional artist’s showcase. Guldin’s work is a bold exploration of the creative process, rooted in the belief that while the urge to create is inherent in all of us, the ability to be creative is a skill that can be nurtured and developed.

“Come Play With Me” stands as an open invitation for visitors to engage not just visually but physically with the art. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to interact with the pieces, encouraged to use both hands and minds to delve into the works. Guldin’s distinctive style, characterized by rich textures and vibrant colors, will be on full display. The exhibit ranges from abstract color studies to intricate examinations of human nature, ensuring a wide appeal to diverse artistic tastes.

The reception, to be held in the museum’s wheelchair-accessible second-floor gallery, promises to be more than just an exhibition, but a celebration of creativity and community spirit. Visitors can enjoy refreshments, engage with Andrea Guldin as she delivers a talk on “Creativity as a Learned Skill,” and participate in the unique experience of contributing to the artwork themselves.

The opening reception will be held on Friday, Jan 19 ,at 7:00 p.m.
